Reading, writing, and language arts can be challenging — and the pressure of grades and deadlines doesn't make it easier. At Story & Co. we work with your student one-on-one to build real skills and genuine confidence, at their pace and in their own voice.
We can help with reading comprehension, essay writing and structure, grammar and mechanics, literary analysis, and test preparation. Whether your student is falling behind, wants to get ahead, or just needs a consistent and supportive presence to work through assignments — we've got them.
Some kids have stories inside them that school never quite makes room for. Creative writing coaching at Story & Co. is dedicated time and space to develop those stories — with a coach who takes young writers seriously.
We work on whatever your student is drawn to: fiction, poetry, personal narrative, worldbuilding, character development, or just finding a writing practice that feels like theirs. No prompts they hate, no red pen for its own sake. Just good writing conversation and the tools to go deeper.

Getting started is simple. Reach out through our contact page to schedule a free 20-minute consultation. This is a chance for us to learn about your student's needs, answer any questions you have, and make sure Story & Co. is the right fit. There's no pressure and no commitment required.
The first session is low-key by design. We spend time getting to know your student — their interests, how they learn best, and what they want to work on. For younger students especially, we want them to leave the first session feeling good, not overwhelmed. From there we build a plan together.
All Story & Co. sessions are currently held online via a secure video platform. This makes it easy for families across New Mexico to access affirming academic support from wherever they are.
ELA tutoring is $50/hour. Creative writing coaching is $45/hour. We also offer a package of 5 sessions for the price of 4 for families who want to commit to consistent work. Payment details will be shared at the time of booking.
Yes — and we mean that in a practical sense, not just a performative one. Our founder is a trans person and a credentialed educator who has worked with young people for years. We use your student's correct name and pronouns without exception, we don't require any explanation or documentation, and we never share information about your family with anyone. You can also let us know if there are specific things that would make your student more comfortable and we'll do our best to make them happen.
Not at all. Story & Co. is especially committed to serving LGBTQ+ youth, but we welcome any student who needs ELA support or wants to develop their creative writing. What we ask is that everyone who works with us — students and families alike — treats others with respect.
We work with students in grades 3 through 12, roughly ages 8 through 18. If you're unsure whether your student falls within our range, just reach out and we'll figure it out together.
